Venues : rainbow hotel: leonard cohen fans wanted
samanthad writes"Hi all,
I am organizing a monthly night at The Rainbow Hotel in Fitzroy (first one Monday 12th October) called ‘Inspired at the Rainbow….Leonard Cohen’)
Each month we will have a different feature artist – thinking Johnny Cash for November, let me know what you think, I am open to suggestion..!) Inspired at the Rainbow will be a cross between a jam night and an open mic – the idea is for performers (any instrument, and/or vocal) to have a space to show new work, and also to do a few covers of the feature artist if desired, and most fun, to have a chance to jam with other musos who have at least one similar influence to you. It is a chance for an audience who are fans of a particular artist to see a whole bunch of people inspired by that person, and appreciate the diversity of talent in this fine city, in an informal and organic atmosphere. All sorts of collaborations could take off from here! I would like to book people in for 20-30 min sets (depending on numbers) as well as leave some time at the end for a bit of a jam. Please invite a fair few mates to come as your audience as this will increase the likelihood that we can put on other interesting evenings in the months ahead. To book in, email samantha_deasy@yahoo.com by 5th October (a last minute turn up is good too, although we may not have too much performing time left) Date: 12th October Payment: a couple of drinks for each performer from the kind owners of the Rainbow: around $12, the chance to extend your musical networks: priceless...
