News : Public Revolution get exclusive release of new songs by 26.
founder writes"Melbourne rockers 26 and online indie portal www.publicrevolution.com
have announced new songs Let Down and Friendly Fire to be released
exclusively through Public Revolution.com. The agreement comes in the
wake of their successful first album The King Must Die which received
widespread acclaim and airplay on JJJ, and netted the band thousands of
myspace fans. Self managed, 26 are one of the smart new breed of bands
taking full advantage of the internet to DIY their success to retain
full ownership and control of their songs, image, career and ultimately
all profit. "The internet now allows bands/managers to do their own
marketing and advertising which is really where Public Revolution
shines." commented founder Terry Church, "We designed the site to be
much more than just a free online store 'plug-in' for indie
artists/managers, it's true purpose is an advertising portal with
streaming radio, video, gig guide, and many places for artists to be
featured." Church said. Singer and manager Nick O'donnell agreed
as to the internet's advantages by saying "Sites like myspace and
Public Revolution allowed us to organise our whole tour and sales
online. We chose Public Revolution because they're all about quality...
their mp3's are the highest at 192kbps and sell for 99cents, and they
don't allow just anyone to upload and join - you have to submit your
music and be invited." He said. "It's also nice to see some financial
reward for a change rather than give our songs away." The songs
Let Down and Friendly Fire will be available exclusively through
www.publicrevolution.com for the entire month of July following their
coming tour which starts in Adelaide on the 13th of July and finishes
in Brisbane on the 20th July. For full details go to www.26theband.com
or www.myspace.com/26theband or look for them on
www.publicrevolution.com."
