News : Ampt Festival - VIC
JayJay writes"After the massive success of the sell-out debut aMpT Festival,
Peninsula Events Australia with the support of triple j's Short Fast
Loud & punknetwork.net are proud to announce that Australia's
Hottest Alternative Rock Bands & Fans will once again gather in the
plush surroundings of the Peninsula Theatre Complex & Grounds in
Mornington on Sunday February 5 for the Annual Ampt All Ages Music
Festival.
Organisers say this 'one of a kind' event will once
again bring together the best of all alternative music styles including
Hardcore, Emo, Punk, Metal & Heavy Rock to the one place at the one
time and they hope to see even more live music fans from all over the
country, head down to experience first hand what this unique festival
is all about. 2 stages will host a massive 20 Bands
for the big day, with the main stage being headlined by emo band Behind
Crimson Eyes, who had monumental success in 2005 and look set to have
an even better 2006. aMpT will be they're first gig of the year &
the first time they have played on the Peninsula since the "Sold Out"
aMpT winter festival back in July. Supporting them on the Indoor Stage
will be Melbourne bands In Name & Blood, Horsell Common, Sunset
Avenue & Picture the End, South Australia's Wendy Icon & the
two current top Mornington Peninsula bands, Famous By Association &
One Dead Dream. The Outdoor Stage will also once again be packed with
huge local talent including Arpejio, Blind Nation, Blame It on Stanley,
BTK, Chase Manhattan, Exit Wounds, Morning Glory, Pro Team, Standing
Tall, The Bullet Never Lies, The Scissor File & When Destiny Fails.
Additional features at this year's festival will also include The
November Clothing Flatland S-K-A-T-E Titles, an outdoor flea market,
food & drinks stalls & more.
Promoter Paul Harvey of Peninsula Events Australia said "Last
years Ampt Festival proved to be a money cant buy launching pad of big
years for bands such as Kisschasy, Parkway Drive & Behind Crimson
Eyes who all went from being relative unknowns to bands who have gone
on to receive ARIA nominations after performing at aMpT!! My tips for
making it big in 06 are South Australian Hardcore band Wendy Icon, who
not only have one of the most unique sounds I've heard in a while, but
who also have growing industry interest due to they're recent
invitation to perform at the 2006 Big Day Out in Adelaide. Another band
I think people should look out for is Horsell Common who have also just
come off a big year of support touring to an impressive list of bands".

News : The Rhythm Bell
brendan writes"Rhythm Bell
Growing
up on the Mornington Peninsula of Melbourne and alienated from the
wider music community meant the bands music was pure and honest and
devoid of the influence of belonging to a particular subculture or
scene. “We learnt to play our instruments together and we think it
shows in our music,” starts singer/guitarist Dave. Subtlety referencing
their influences in Fugazi, Shellac and more locally The Nation Blue,
Rhythm Bell aren’t afraid to flirt with three four timing, angular
guitars, tonality and as there name perhaps suggest an emphasis on
rhythm.
The Rhythm Bell world is ultimately one of fun and
expression; one where neither boundaries nor a particular individual
takes control. All songs are products of the group messing with a riff
until it unfolds into a song. Time consuming perhaps but an element
that makes the bands sound so unique and captivating, particularly
live.
An independently minded group of musicians playing a
style of music that could inevitably find them only a limited audience
by no means phases the band; this is no lucrative financial enterprise
just a group of passionate and likeminded individuals playing the music
they want and on their own terms.
The band have just released
their debut 4 track EP which is out now on Highhorse Records for $5 PPD
by contacting highhorserecords@hotmail.com . To hear some MP3’s visit: www.myspace.com/highhorserecords or www.myspace.com/rhythmbell. "
