The Grand Arcanum was conceived in late 2007 in the south eastern suburbs, after the demise of the members’ previous band, Revolucion Street (featuring KARNIVOOL guitarist MARK HOSKING and SUPERHEIST keyboard player FETAH SABAWI). With a wide range of musical influences from Rock, Orchestral, Electronica, World Music, Funk, and Progressive Rock they bring a unique style to the Australian music scene. The Grand Arcanum consists of three key members, bringing an array of instruments into play. These include vocals, guitar, keyboards/samples, bass, drums and percussion. The band frequently performs with special guest players on violin, double bass, trumpet, flute and Japanese koto. Such a broad range of textures, coupled with intricate compositions, proves to be a sonically invigorating spectacle.
Live performance has always been a major factor in the success of The Grand Arcanum. Extreme dynamics make shows very powerful and crowds are often awe-struck by the brute power and Beauty of the live sound.
Performing shows locally, The Grand Arcanum has worked with many artists including: .Hinge, The Vagrants, Cue Therapy F, The Tomas Fitzgerald Band, Mouse Trap Replica, The Fading Hour, The Drivers, Middlend & Moultress.
The first full-length album ‘Equivalent Exchange’ is set to be released in late July, 2008. Recorded at Funkington studios and mixed by celebrated engineer Michael ‘Maz’ Marrinuci, the album is big step up for the band and a great do*****ent of where the band is musically at this time.
The Grand Arcanum are intent on writing and performing music with meaning, intelligence and emotion.
