Up for sale is a near mint/mint PRS Silver Sky John Mayer Signature Guitar in the much sought after Tungsten Finish.
This guitar is still on backorder almost everywhere around the world, with a wait-list spanning months, especially for the tungsten finish which John Mayer used the most during his world tour for the album The Search For Everything.
The guitar is exceptionally well made, USA Paul Reed Smith quality on all fronts.
The 635JM pickups are ridiculously good. Extremely full-bodied tone across all pickup positions. Nails JMís strat tones past and present. Acoustically, the guitar is very resonant and is a quality instrument.
Locking tuners and a decked bridge give it extra tuning stability (although you can convert it to floating if youíd like).
The PRS cutaway, horn and heel design allows for better fret access vis-a-vis a Fender Strat.
The Tungsten Finish has a glorious metallic sheen and sparkle to it, and the scoop has a splash of the frost finish in it, giving it a slightly different look from the rest of the guitar. In my opinion, it adds depth to the look and finish of the instrument and speaks to the amount of attention put to the design of these guitars.
All in all, itís a stunning guitar and a great sounding instrument. Only looking to let it go because Iím not quite bonding with the neck shape. Played it for awhile (only at home, never gigged). The guitar has never even had a strap put on it.
Full disclosure, it is mint except for some pick scratches on the pick guard, consistent with normal playing and a hairline crack on the switch tip (which is a common issue as noted on the forums). However, PRS has already sent me a replacement switch tip which will be included with the sale. The current switch tip still works but you can see the cracks. You will have another to replace it in case it goes past the point of being functional.
Comes with a well-padded PRS Gig Bag with quite possibly the best handle Iíve seen on any Gig Bag (Monocase stuff included).
All original papers, hang tag, tremolo arm and tools (truss rod/saddle/tremolo arm adjustment) will be included. The serial number in the pictures has been intentionally blurred using Photoshop to prevent fraud using my pictures.
Not looking to post or ship the guitar. Looking to get either cash or trade towards a Suhr/TA/Fender/Nash or anything else.
Street Price for this guitar seems to be at $3,699 - $3,899. Given the condition and the fact that it is backordered, Iím looking to get $3,650 for it. Reasonable offers welcome.
