Third Eye seeks vocalist
Due to our previous singer stepping down due to personal commitments, we’re left with the need to fill a vacant lead vocalist position. We came together in late 2013 and have spent several years slowly but surely building a reputation Australia-wide as a faithful yet humble attempt at emulating one of our favourite alt/progressive rock bands. We have toured nationally, cultivated a loyal following online and have received acclaimed reviews in Beat Magazine and elsewhere.
We’re looking for a singer who can bring a unique amount of commitment to our group, in terms of their ability to cover the broad dynamic range of Maynard’s vocals, whilst channelling the physical movements characteristic of his onstage performances. You’ll be expected to have an equal if not greater vocal range, and a willingness to adapt to the needs of each performance, in terms of physical attire required.
We also expect no less than a commitment to performances when they are booked months in advance as well the need to be the veritable front person of the band. Although Tool as a band has different meanings for different people, Maynard’s vocals and overall persona tend to remain in the forefront. The bulk of feedback received from our shows was almost invariably biased towards the singer’s likeness to Tool in terms of vocal style and physical performance, so it’s important for us to find a person who can shoulder this responsibility.
That being said, what we seek above all else is a bandmate who is both friendly and reliable. Although we take a great deal of pride and care in our combined efforts to reproduce the aural and visual facade of a Tool performance, at the end of the day, we’re just a bunch of friends who got together to play our favourite music. Having already had a decent amount of success under our belt from touring interstate, we’re committed to building this project for the long term, but not at the cost of fracturing our personal and professional relationships with one another.
If you feel that this is a project that you can contribute to in the manner discussed, don't hesitate to drop us a line. Auditions will be held in September. We'll provide a small list of songs to rehearse; we'd encourage you to also prepare a Tool song of your choosing.
