A heads up to anyone with old electronic gear, I'm seeing a lot of old gear come in with leaking capacitor problems.

for instance, Korg 05R/W, Roland R70

Leaking / faulty capacitors will cause many problems the most major is corrosion, if caught early it can often be repaired, if not, it could write the unit off.

Have your old gear checked and / or recapped by an expert, especially if the unit uses surface mount components.

In some equipment you can delay recapping by switching it on for a while at least once every few weeks (before it fails of course - preventative maintenance).

I've had a bunch of gear I've written off because it's been in storage for yonks and all the electrolytics are dead.
